The five-minute check-in that prevents most fights

⏱️

Most couples don’t need more conversation — they need one specific, short conversation, on a schedule, before small frustrations turn into the next big fight.

The version we suggest most often takes about five minutes: each partner answers three questions out loud, uninterrupted. What went well this week. What felt off. What would help next week. No solving, no defending — just naming.

The rule that makes it work is the "uninterrupted" part. Most day-to-day friction isn’t a disagreement about facts, it’s a feeling that never got a clean turn to be said. A five-minute structure with no cross-talk gives that feeling somewhere to go before it turns into a Friday-night argument about something else entirely.

Couples who keep this habit for a month tend to report the same thing: not that conflict disappeared, but that it got smaller and easier to have — because most of it had already been said, calmly, on a Sunday.
